Emergency Through-Deck Bridge Repairs in the west-bound lanes of the New Jersey Turnpike required HICC operation (High Intensity Construction Cycle) over three consecutive weekends. Crews worked round-the-clock, commencing Friday evenings at 8 p.m. and re-opening lane closures to traffic Monday morning. Selective Bridge Deck Sections were cut and then removed, elevated by through-bolts drilled in place and lifted onto trucks for transport. Innovative Debris Removal greatly reduced man-hours and facilitated the second phase of Deck Repairs, allowing for the new Reinforced Concrete Decking to be Poured In-Place, Sealed and Paved. Additionally, needed Spall Repairs at various points along the span involved Demolition of Degraded Concrete, Milling, Paving and Debris Removal, utilizing existing Rebar and Quick-set Concrete to expedite the completion of this time-sensitive project.
