An emergency bid following Hurricane Irene’s scouring of the streambed beneath the Bowman Road Bridge, and the resultant damage to the Bridge Deck by the washout, expedited this reconstruction project previously slated for future scheduling. Lucas Construction Group replaced the 3-Span, Timber Pile Bridge within the narrow time constraints mandated by the state Department of Environmental Protection. Since work in the water was restricted from March through June, it was imperative that a Permanent Steel Sheeting Coffer Dam be installed quickly, allowing the subsequent Installation of Precast Concrete Box Beams. Expedited roadway construction to the adjacent area minimized interruption to the community’s traffic flow.
